This sensor is part of the deluxe automatic air conditioning, and measures pollution in the outside air. If predetermined limits are exceeded – for example, when driving through a tunnel – the deluxe automatic air conditioning system switches to the recirculated-air mode and thus prevents polluted air from degrading air quality inside the car.
